BONJOUR CHAMONIX

After my work meetings finished up in Geneva I was lucky enough to a take trip out to Chamonix for the weekend with my sister before heading home.... Carpe Diem!
Chamonix did not disappoint and we will definitely be back. We started off the weekend going to La Caleche for dinner for some authentic French fondue. And let me tell you—I am still dreaming about that cheese. We also discovered the raclette which is a half wheel of raclette cheese that is melted under a hot plate and scrapped onto your plate. Take a minute to digest that.
Chamonix Mont-Blanc is made up of several different ski resorts. We ended up skiing at Les Houches as the rest of the resorts in the valley were closed due to avalanche warnings. This was our first foray into European skiing and I would say the main difference we noted was the openness of the trails. The snow itself was also very fluffy which made for some great powder runs #frosting.
Lunch is taken seriously and requires a reservation in advance anywhere in Chamonix. Our guide took us to an amazing small cabin called Les Vieilles Luges. Think Freemans in New York, but in the middle of the Alps. Here we found sausage, risotto, cheese, and wine. Lots and lots of wine. One weekend in Chamonix was definitely a tease but we will be back soon enough--à la prochaine fois Chamonix.
